The results of the Referendum Poll conducted by myself and Ms. Brenda Ense on Saturday September 20th is as follows:

Do you support the investment toward the construction of our Elder's Home from the Land Claim Settlement Fund as follows?

 

Previously approved at Community Meeting held Apr 26/94, non fundable   $500,000

Previously approved at Community Meeting held Jan 31/97, repayable        $600,000

 

TOTAL $1,100,000

 

168 VOTED YES / 81 VOTED NO / 04 NO VOTE


Question #2:

Should Band Employees be allowed to be elected to Band Council?

 

121 VOTED YES / 123 VOTED NO / 03 NO VOTE


Question #3:

Do you approve of the establishment a liquor/beer outlet on the West Bay First Nation?

 I Linda Debassige, Electoral Officer, declare that the polling place was kept open between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:OO p.m. of the same day,  and that I have correctly counted the votes for each candidate and have performed all other duties required of me by the Regulations of M'Chigeeng First Nation on Election of Chief and Council -Part 1 and M'Chigeeng Election Procedures - Part 2 and that copies of this report will be provided to Chief and Council of M’Chigeeng First Nation, Elections Committee and one copy to be filed with the Band Office. The Ballots have been placed in envelopes and are stored in the Ballot Boxes at the UCCM Tribal Police Station.
